DO’S

• The use of Polythene and Plastics is unhealthy for the environment of Himalayas. Kindly use only is necessary.
• Carry away all non degradable litter-empty bottles, tine, poltthene bags etc. and throw them in municipal dustbins only, so that they can be disposed off properly.
• Observe the sanctity of holy sites. In case of any offerings contact the staff of the temple committee only.
• Do not listen to Radios. Tape Recorders or any other electronic entertainment equipment at high volume to avoid noise pollution.
• In case temporary toilets are set-up near camp sites, after defection, cover with mud or sand. Ensure that the spot is at least 30 mts away from a water source.

DON’TS

• Allow the flora and funa to florish in its natural environment. Taking away of cuttings, seeds and roots is illegal in the Himalayas.
• Avoid using pollutants, such as detergents, in stream or springs.
• Do not use wood as fuel to cook food at the camp site and do not destroy the forest wealth of the Himalayas which are heritage.
• Do not leave burning cigarettes or make open fires in the forest.
• Do not consume alcohol, drugs or any other intoxicant.
• Do not tempt the local children by offering them foodstuff or sweets.
• Respect local traditions. When taking photographs, respect privacy; ask prior permission and use restraint.

PRESERVING ENVIRONMENT

• No trees, branches or any flora to be cut.
• No defacing of trees, rocks or any natural structure. No big colorful hoardings and banners on the beaches.
• Avoid using pollutants, such as detergents/shampoos/soaps, in stream or springs.
• Encourage the use of solar energy for cooking, lighting and heating where possible.
• Encourage tree planting in the vicinity of your tended camping area. Check the appropriate plant species with the forest department.
